Carl Auter of Covington, age 81, died Friday afternoon, September 24, in St. Elizabeth Hospital at Danville, Illinois. He was born in Shawnee Township, Fountain County, October 9, 1900, the son of Saul and Mary Smith Auter. July 24, 1920, he married Velma M. Grady, who survives. A member of Fountain Christian Church, he had been a crane operator for Interstate Sand and Gravel Company for 23 years and also worked for the Fountain County and Indiana highway departments. He was a Democratic committeeman for a number of years. Also surviving are a son, Fred of Covington; two sisters, Georgia Bowles and Hannah Kight, both of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Roy of Covington and Melvin of Centerville, Ohio; and two grandchildren.

  Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home in Covington. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery at Attica. – thanks to S
